ETis going to air in its entirety over the course of this weekendWe talked to star Amanda Schull, who plays Cassandra Railey, about this unusual release and whats next, now that her character is pregnant with the messiah of her greatest enemies. Where is Cassie at the start of this season Amanda Schull Cassie is lower than we have ever seen her at the start of season three. She is alone, stranded from any family, carrying the prophet of the people she despises most in the world. Whats even worse is that she now knows that it is her very own child who is the architect of the destruction of the universe something she has been desperately fighting to prevent. It seems like your character has had the most dramatic arc from a skeptical, present day doctor to a hardened warrior in the post apocalypse. Wheres shes going next Schull Cassie is incredibly adaptable. She is able to navigate every time period in which she finds herself, and does it pretty seamlessly I think season three finds Cassie the most at odds with herself. Of all the scenarios and times she has lived, the most terrifying is the one in which she is the mother of the Witness. What does being the mother of the Witness, the leader of the Army of the 1. Monkeys, mean for Cassie Schull She worries the soul of her own flesh and blood is destined to be evil. She is terrified that she created the most evil creature known to man. Beyond the normal time travel action and doom prophecies, the idea of family seems to be at this seasons center. Schull Cassie is without family at the start of the season. She is being held hostage by her enemies with the possibility of never being with family again. I think that leaves her a lot of time to think about who her family has become over the last couple of years and what she will do to protect them. Cassie also spends a lot of this season thinking about all the things she could change with time travel. Can she actually be successful Schull Cassie realizes what is at stake this season from a perspective that she never has had before. She is now a mother. To be more precise, she is the mother of the Witness. There was more than enough interpersonal, romantic, and familial drama in the first season of The Crown to give Peter Morgans intellectual exploration of Queen. With Depps interpretation of Bulger soon hitting screens, we thought it was time to take a look at his competition, new and old, on big screens and small, in the. That reality causes her do things and make choices that she would never have made before. Even though the events of season three are extremely serious, there are still some great moments of comedy in this season. Do you have a favorite Schull There is a sequence in the eighth episodes between Cassie and Cole that portrays them in a light they dont always get to show. I think in a very short amount of time we get to see the playfulness and love between the two of them amidst all the high stakes drama in which they are submerged. Another fun time was the. From the moment we all saw each other in our costumes it was a nonstop laugh fest. How do you think whole season being released over three days will change the viewing experience Schull Audiences are accustomed to binge watching television now. We like the immediacy of a whole season released in one day to be able to watch at our leisure. Episode-77-muhtesem-yuzyil-magnificent-century-33133770-960-640.jpg' alt='Season 2 Magnificent Century Netflix' title='Season 2 Magnificent Century Netflix' />I think that our show in particular is very binge friendly. Our plots and twists and cliffhangers will be easily carried from one episode to the next with less downtime than the standard seven days. How does the knowledge youre heading into the final season affect the energy of the showAnd what can you say about where season four picks up from season three Schull I have lived every moment and every episode as if it were the last one. The fact is that you never truly know when your last opportunity will be to live in the skin of these amazing characters through these fantastic stories. I think having this be the final season has really encouraged the writers to go for broke, stretching their imaginations and ambitions for the show. What was it like to have Back to the Futures Christopher Lloyd on the set of your time travel show Schull Everyone was very excited to have Christopher on the show. I was lucky enough to get a couple of scenes with him, and he was absolutely fantastic. Its Barrymores first regular TV series role in a long time since 2. Malibu Road way back in 1. Watch The Demolisher Mediafire. SNL host, Olyphants often incredibly funny when asked to be, and Fresco created one of the most underrated comedies of the last decade in ABCs Better Off Ted. Put those three together with the relative creative freedom of Netflix, and how could things go wrongIn practice, though, Santa Clarita Diet is an unfortunate collection of mismatched parts, and gory humor that quickly becomes numbing. I watched all 1. 0 episodes of the first season, which debuts Friday, almost entirely out of the disbelief that all these talented people couldnt make something better. Lets start with the premise, though Im reluctant to divulge it even though Netflix has long since spilled the beans, given that my biggest laugh from any of the episodes came from my realization late in the pilot at exactly what the show was about. So for the moment Ill just say that that Barrymore and Olyphant play Sheila and Joel Hammond, long married former high school sweethearts who work together as realtors in the eponymous California community, trying to keep the spark in their marriage from fading while fending off the arrival of an aggressive new realtor named Gary guest star Nathan Fillion. And then Sheila begins projectile vomiting massive amounts of bile in the middle of a house showing, which turns out to the be the first stage in her transformation from boring suburban mom into something much scarier and more disgusting, even if it still looks and talks like Drew Barrymore. But its a broad performance that pretty much stays in one key, in a way that might work fine if this was a 9. Its fun at times early on to see her playing a Sheila no longer bound by the rules of polite society, but she keeps doing the same thing over and over again, to diminishing returns. Still, shes used better than Olyphant, who isnt so much cast against type as miscast altogether. Olyphant can do overconfident alpha male, and he can do handsome flake, but he seems at sea as a befuddled, exasperated nebbish, bugging out his eyes at every opportunity and yelling every third line. Im not sure who thought it was a good idea to hire Raylan Givens to play a repressed Matthew Broderick type, but here we are. Which brings us to Fresco. Yes, he gave us Better Off Ted, and its as great as its reputation. But his resumes a lot more checkered than you might think, including creator credits on far lesser sitcoms like Sean Saves the World, Life on a Stick, and The Trouble with Normal. Admittedly, all of those were traditional multi camera sitcoms, where Santa Clarita is a single cam show like Ted and Andy, but theres a flop sweaty, self satisfied tone more typical of the weaker Fresco comedies. Every now and then there will be a moment, or a guest performance familiar faces popping up include Better Off Ted alum Portia de Rossi, Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon, Ricardo Chavira, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Natalie Morales that takes the show beyond its fundamental wackiness and familiar suburban satire, but theyre too often derailed by gross out humor or a new round of panic for Sheila and Joel. A scene featuring Olyphant, Ellis, and Morales together made me sad all over again that The Grinder was canceled.
